Scrabble Challenge FAQ
Before emailing me, please check that you are not going to ask one
of the following questions. This will save me a lot of time! Thank
you.
- The dictionary is wrong!
The dictionary contains words from both the UK and US tournament lists,
and is described on the how-to page.
If you intend to complain about the contents of the dictionary,
you had better be more knowledgeable on the subject than I am and
have some constructive help to offer.
- The dictionary is still wrong!
I will not even considering changing the dictionary unless you
can convice me that you have a better (international) list, and can
provide the complete list in electronic form.
If you still object to the word list, please feel free to create an
alternative game with your own lists and pay for your own virtual
server on which to run it.
- The board and rack haven't been updated!
You are probably looking at an old copy stored (cached) on your
machine, or at your service provider. Try pressing the `Reload' or
`Refresh' button on your browser. If that doesn't work, there may be a
network problem between you and the web site. Check to see if you can
access other (non-Scrabble) pages in my area. If you can't access
them, there must be a network or hardware problem. I can do nothing at
all about these, so there is no point in mailing me.
- I'm locked out! But I didn't play a word today.
The Scrabble Challenge can only get a rough idea of where you are
playing from. So when one player from a host (e.g. AOL or WebTV)
plays a word, no other player can play from that host for
15 minutes (or longer if the word was rejected). Try registering
your name.
- One of my duplicate scores is missing!
Did you spell your name right? Try registering your name. Have you
played in more than half the turns this game?
- I mailed you a question and didn't get an answer!
I respond to almost all questions and most other email. If you don't
get a response, your site may have been blocked for abusive emails in
the past. Try sending a letter!
If you still have a question, I am very happy for you to email to me at:
